Course Overview
Ensuring and monitoring a safer working environment is not just a consideration – it is a major reality in today’s fast paced workplace. In this course, participants will gain an understanding of the principles and practices that support an effective occupational health and safety system and identify safety issues that need to be addressed in their workplace.
This course applies to employees with supervisory responsibilities for ensuring the implemention and/or monitoring the organisation's OHS policies, procedures and programs in a work area.
It applies to individuals with a broad knowledge of OHS policies who contribute well developed skills in creating solutions to unpredictable problems through analysis and evaluation of information from a variety of sources.

All people working at the frontline of an organisation, from supervisors and team leaders, through to business unit and divisional managers.
Managers play an important role in ensuring the safety of the workplace and the wellbeing of their staff. This unit applies to managers working in a range of contexts. It takes a systems approach and ensures compliance with relevant legislative requirements.
All those who have, or are likely to have, a management responsibility for OHS should undertake this unit.
It is relevant for those with managerial responsibilities, either as an owner or employee-manager of a business.

Learning Strategy
Students will take part in a highly interactive project forum, with group discussion and collaborative research for maximum impact and learning. The DiSC behavioural profiling is used in relation to strengths and challenges. This is followed up with 4 half day project forums for students to work on their projects and receive feedback from an Assessor. Projects are linked to the organisation’s strategic themes and core values, making them applied to real situations, rather than theory and textbook.
